Bowe Bergdahl will no longer be automatically promoted to staff sergeant later this month now that he is back in the hands of the U.S. military, senior officials said.
The freed soldier will have to compete for his next promotion like all other sergeants in the Army, according to senior U.S. military officials.
Bergdahl, who was held by the Taliban for five years before he was released to U.S. forces in exchange for five Taliban commanders, was a Private First Class when he went missing in 2009. He was automatically promoted twice while in captivity. He was promoted to the rank of specialist in June 2010 and then sergeant in June 2011.
If he was still in captivity, he would have automatically been promoted again within a couple of weeks.
They knew he was a deserter yet gave him automatic promotions from private to sgt…this despite the fact that surveillence had documented his comradreship with the Taliban. He was so close to the Taliban, he mentioned his disappointment that he didn’t get to shake hands, and say goodbye to them at the handover. The six soldiers who were interviewed by Megyn Kelly stated, unlike other soldiers, they weren’t made to sign a nondisclosure rather they had a gag order until Bergdahl got home safely, thus were able to speak out which began after hearing Susan Rice say on television that Bergdahl served with “Honor and Distinction”.
Notes: This guy should never have been promoted in the first place since they knew he was a deserter already! The commander and all officers of these soldiers who are speaking out need to come out from and support their platoons – not that anyone w/ the exception of the Obama Administration and their circle don’t believe them! Is their anything the Obama circle has said that held up in the past week?
